The phone image will change color to indicate whether a connected device is in range (blue), out of range (gray), or a call is in progress (green). Phone Amego normally appears as a status bar item with a pull-down menu. Phone Amego will display a semi-transparent window showing the status of your outgoing call. When the menu appears, select "Dial with Phone Amego". To place a call from your Address Book, click and hold over the label for the desired phone number. This will generally send the caller to your voice mail depending on your service. To refuse an incoming call, press the close button in the upper left corner of the window. Using Phone Amego, you can dial calls or send SMS directly from your Address Book taking advantage of Google's free service. Phone Amego is a modest application that provides Address Book to Google Voice and Bluetooth phone integration in Leopard and beyond. What may deter you from using it, though, is that it's not compatible with Wi-Fi and comes with a price tag.Įditors' note: This is a review of the trial version of Phone Amego for Mac 1.4.29.Allows you to integrate your Address Book to Google Voice or to your phone Version: 1.0.9 It has an extensive range of features and functions, but it's not that difficult to configure. Phone Amego offers you a viable way to handle mobile phone communication through your Mac, thus improving your overall productivity and, if you are a small business owner, customer relationship management. However, it would be better if this application operated on Wi-Fi as well, as most phone users have their Wi-Fi on. Not accessible via Wi-Fi: Because it uses Bluetooth to connect to a computer, it's not too power-consuming, as if it would be if it used Wi-Fi. In addition, this app also supports different phone types, as well as Skype and Google Voice. Quicksilver integration, for example, means you can quickly search a Mac contact and call or send them a file. Integration with other utilities: You can use this application in conjunction with utilities such as Push Dialer, LaunchBar, PopClip, Alfred App, and Quicksilver. What's more, if you're running a business, this software can automate the order-taking process or filter prank and undesirable callers. You can also use AppleScript to pause your music player as you answer a call. Works with AppleScript: You can use AppleScript to automate your interaction with connected phones, which means you can place calls with fewer clicks, reject unwanted calls, or direct a call to your voicemail. Setting your communication logging parameters, for instance, is as easy as ticking check boxes. Everything is clearly presented on the application's different panes. Intuitive interface: Configuring Phone Amego for Mac does not take long. It works well and proves useful, but doesn't support Wi-Fi. Phone Amego for Mac sits on your menu bar and interacts with your phone for a number of functions, monitoring and controlling calls, blocking unwanted callers, doing Web reverse lookups, and setting calendars.
